about

This track was written by me, Jude Gonzalez, on June 10, 2016, the 63rd song in a 100 days of songwriting challenge. In 2017, the recording process began at Valve Studios with Casey Di'Iorio, Clay Pendergrass (Longear), Michael Jerome Moore (Better Than Ezra), Jason Bucklin (Bucklin Trio), & Nigel Newton (Inner Lizard, Trusko). The song remained in limbo for all of 2018, 2019 & 2020 following a shoulder injury, a car accident, relocation to my home state of California, a new relationship/marriage, returning to school for 1000 hours and the untimely death of my 26 year-old brother, Michael Gonzalez, on his motorcycle by an intoxicated driver.

It's been almost two and half years since I've been able to sing my heart out the way I used to after experiencing such a loss. I became the one who stopped talking. I became the one who stopped singing. I stopped playing music almost altogether. I felt I had nothing to say for the longest time. I turned over these vocal-less stems for "Stop Talking" to fellow songwriter and producer Sean Cairns (the Cairngorms Youngteam) from Scotland. He gave me in return "Stuntman at 35." Seeing as I'll be 36 on the first of June, I figured there was no better time than now to wish this 35th year farewell with a Blood Super Moon Release. I hope this song blesses your ears and your nerves as it does mine.
